October 30, 2013 — October 30 marked 100 days until the start of the Sochi Winter Olympics. On this day, Father Frost announced the launch of a special mailbox in Sochi into which city residents and guests will be able to drop letters with New Year wishes and messages to Russian athletes, the website of the Joint Information Center reports.
At the ceremonial opening of his post office's branch in Sochi, Father Frost addressed the public: "Dear friends, from this day on, every resident and every guest of the Sochi Olympics will be able to write me a letter with one's dearest wishes, joyful news or congratulations on the upcoming New Year. And I also hope with all my heart that you will put letters with warm wishes to Russian athletes — participants in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi — in my mailbox. Your support and kind words are necessary for our national team and for our common victory."
The mailbox was set up in a large Moremol shopping center on Novaya Zarya Street in Sochi. Before New Year, all the letters from this box will be sent to Father Frost's residence in Veliky Ustyug. In 2014, the winter residence of Russia's main wizard will open in the Olympic Park, and letters will be sent there. Along with the rest of the country, Father Frost will be supporting Russian athletes during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
