Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Vologda Region Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov signed an implementation protocol for a bilateral agreement on trade and economic, science and technological and cultural cooperation in 2015-2017.
Moscow and the Vologda Region are linked by long-time partner relations, which have become even stronger and more fruitful over the past few years, Mr Sobyanin said. Their mutual annual trade now exceeds 50 billion roubles.
Mr Sobyanin noted that commodity producers from the Vologda Region were regular guests at regional fairs hosted by Moscow. On 11 April, Zelyony Prospekt will host the first Vologda regional fair this year.
In turn, Mr Kuvshinnikov said Moscow was his region’s number-one partner and voiced his readiness to deliver more premium-class dairy products and other goods that are in high demand. He thanked the Moscow Government for supporting the Veliky Ustyug — Home of Father Frost project, which is wildly popular among Moscow residents.
The protocol is aimed at implementing the 2011 cooperation agreement between the Moscow Government and the Vologda Region Government.
The protocol stipulates expanded economic integration and more active inter-regional ties in areas such as industry, the agro-industrial sector, road construction and transport, trade and services, urban development, housing and utilities, IT, healthcare, education, culture, tourism, folk arts, environmental protection, and family and youth policies.
Executive agencies in Moscow and the Vologda Region are creating favourable conditions for the expanded delivery of manufacturing and consumer goods, agricultural produce and foodstuffs.
Both sides are also exchanging their experience and holding exhibitions, conferences, seminars, meetings, roundtables and other joint events.
