The memory of the famous Russian battle painter Vasily Vereshchagin will be immortalized in Cuba, the Krasny Sever newspaper writes.
The installation of a memorial sign in Havana will be timed to coincide with Vereshchagin's 180th anniversary. This year also marks the 120th anniversary of the artist's visit to Cuba.
An exhibition of Vereshchagin's paintings will be held in the Russian Hall of the National Library of Cuba. It will be followed by a scientific conference. Its participants are going to discuss the life and work of the artist. A presentation of the book entitled "Vereshchagin and Cuba" written by Cuban philologist, writer and diplomat Blas Nabel Perez is also scheduled to take place. The book is published in two languages: Spanish and Russian.
