IOC President Thomas Bach Pays a Visit to Father Frost

The President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach visited the house of Father Frost in Sochi. Father Frost gave his guest a tour of the homestead, showed him Vologda lace, northern black silverware and the Shemogod bark carving. Father Frost also told Thomas Bach of his one dream.
“I partake in an old sport, the Lapta, it resembles hockey a little bit. And my dream is for it to become an Olympic sport one day,” Father Frost told Bach.
The IOC President smiled and stated that this was the first time that a magician in his own right has asked him for anything. Father Frost also told Thomas Bach about him dream to build a youth sporting village in his community.
“Hundreds of thousands of children come to visit me from around the world,” he noted. “And I dream that one day a youth sport village will appear near my domain in Veliky Ustiug. If you would agree to be my guest, then with your patronage, this could be a youth Olympic village.”
Father Frost hosts large sporting games for children every year in Veliky Ustiug. He invited the IOC President to be an honorary judge at the youth competitions that will be held in March. At the end of his visit, the IOC President sent a letter with his most cherished wish in the Father Frost mail. The President’s wish remained a secret for the journalists, Vologda and Vologda Oblast Novosti reports.
