EUROCUP WOMEN
Chevakata won convincingly over Arras on Wednesday to book a spot in the EuroCup Women Semi-Finals.
Svetlana Makhlina led the scoring parade with 17 points as the Russian team prevailed in the second leg of the Quarter-Final tie, 71-56.
Chevakata won by 24 points on aggregate.
Arras had reached the EuroCup Women Final last year but lost to Elitzur Ramla.
They needed a strong start at Chevakata to have a chance of overhauling the first-leg deficit.
Late in the first half, the visitors from France went on top 28-25 after four straight points by Alexandra Tchangoue.
Loree Moore and Makhlina didn't allow Arras to build any confidence, however, as they answered with back-to-back three-pointers to put Chevakata in front, 31-28.
Arras stayed within striking distance and only trailed 52-48 after Tchangoue made a pair of free throws at the end of the third quarter.
Chevata went on a 12-0 run at the beginning of the final period to put the result beyond doubt.
Katerina Keyru and Maria Cherepanova each hit shots from the arc and Olga Malashenko had a pair of jump shots before Elena Baranova capped the run with a basket for a 64-48 second-leg lead with 6:23 to go.
The Russians then coasted to victory.
Arras were led by their Russia, Nadezda Grishaeva, who had 18 points and 13 rebounds.
