Vologda Region will mark International Museum Day with various activities.

On the night of May 18 to 19, museums of the Vologda Region will open its doors to visitors in the evening and at night.
The cultural authorities will launch a batch of activities to mark the International Museum Day - exhibitions, academic readings, museum and theatre performances and promotional events. Many museums and cultural institutions across the Vologda Region plan to launch related events to celebrate the holiday.
This year's event is dedicated to the Year of the Family in Russia and is called "The Museum. History. Family".
The International Museum Day was established by the International Council of Museums in 1977 aimed to educate the public about the issues of museums in the development of society, to increase people’s awareness of the role of museums and boost the development of museums. The Vologda Region has officially celebrated the day as a main venue with various themes for the past years.
