Defender of the Fatherland Day is celebrated in Russia on February 23. This is a nation-wide holiday that personifies the recognition of the great services of the Russian forces to the country and people.
This holiday is a symbol of courage and loyalty to the Fatherland,
February 23 is meant to honor military servicemen but it actually celebrates men on the whole, regardless of their age and profession.
The Vologda Region will celebrate Defender of the Fatherland Day with a number of festive events - concerts, exhibition, sports competitions and patriotic events.
