10.11.2020 16:39

Today top leadership of the Vologda Region Government and Dak Lak Province (Vietnam) held a virtual meeting via conference calls. The relations between Vietnam and the Vologda Region started long before, dating back to the 1960s. It was during this period that several thousand Vietnamese residents worked at key enterprises of the Vologda Region under an interstate agreement.
In the new historic period in the early 1990s, the Vologda Region and Vietnam did not only maintain the friendship and cross-assistance established by former generations but also strengthened and comprehensively accelerated them in many fields.
The cross-years of Russia in Vietnam and Vietnam in Russia that were held in 2019-2020 became an impetus for enhancing cooperation. The events during the Cross Years encompassed both cultural and other areas of cooperation, including politics, economy, security, science, healthcare, tourism and interregional ties.
The Vologda Region showed great interest in participation in the Cross Year program. Within its framework, the Vologda Region implemented a whole range of projects aimed at familiarizing Vologda’s citizens with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, its history, culture and traditions. Representatives of the Vologda Region participated in the Vietnamese Week and the Vietnamese Cultural Days in Russia.
Today the head of the Governor’s Administrative Office attached great importance to the major projects with Vietnam and underlined that alongside with cultural ties, economic and trade cooperation is one of the most important sectors.
