Vologda Region expands its presence in the global arena.

On Tuesday, December 29 a meeting of the United Russia General Council Commission on international cooperation and support of compatriots abroad took place in Moscow. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov chairs the Commission.
Mr. Lavrov stressed that it is necessary to further unite the Russian community, which is multinational , to ensure the development of ties between historical, indigenous Russia and diasporas. In this regard, the diplomat focused on the need to ensure the rights of compatriots living overseas, provide the protection of their interests and preserve the national cultural identity.
Sergey Lavrov drew attention to the importance of promoting Russia’s best achievements in the field of culture, art, education, science, the development of tourist ties and work with compatriots living abroad. It affects the foreign policy positions of the Russian Federation.
Head of the Governor’s Administrative Office of the Vologda Region Government briefed on this work in the Vologda Region. The Vologda Oblast takes an active position in working with compatriots abroad, developing international cultural cooperation, implementing projects with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).
In 2021, exhibitions of Vologda lace were held in Tajikistan and Kazakhstan. Events within the framework of the project "Veliky Ustyug - hometown of the Russian Ded Moroz", including the participation of a fairy-tale wizard in New Year's Eve events in Berlin were organized.
Governor's International music competition named after Valery Gavrilin and the International film festival “Rendezvous with Russia” that are hosted by the Vologda Region are included into next year plan of Rossotrudnichestvo.
In addition to it, the local government will work out the possibility of expanding the geography of Ded Moroz's New Year's journey by including the countries of Central and Northern Europe in it.
