The Criminal Sanctions Agency is responsible for the enforcement of sentences in Finland. It operates under the direction of the Ministry of Justice and implements the criminal policy defined by the Ministry.
The primary duty of the Criminal Sanctions Agency is to see that the sentences passed by the courts of law are enforced lawfully and safely in Finland.
The representatives of the Finnish Criminal Sanctions Agency will visit two prisons in Vologda and Gryazovets. Guests from Finland will learn about the material detention conditions and the practice of placing inmates. The visit is arranged within the framework of a joint programme signed by Director General of the Finnish Criminal Sanctions Agency Esa Vesterbacka and Head of Federal Service for the Implementation of Punishment Gennady Kornienko.
