Over 70,500 people visited Vologda during New Year and Christmas holidays.

From December 30, 2025 to January 11, 2026 large-scale New Year and Christmas celebrations took place in the cities and towns of the Vologda Region.
Celebrating this wonderful holiday is one of the most heartwarming traditions. It is passed on from generation to generation, bringing people together. 70,500 people visited Vologda during New Year and Christmas holidays (that is 14,4% more than last year).
The main celebrations were held on December 31, when Russia’s Ded Moroz arrived in Vologda. At night the celebrations wound up with lighting up the first Christmas tree at the Revolution Square and stunning fireworks in the heart of Vologda.
Vologda has much to offer the discerning visitor. The city has a remarkable place on Russia's tourist map. With a unique cultural and historical heritage, Vologda City, abundant with architectural monuments and arts, has great tourism potential.
Most of the guests came from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Leningrad, Murmansk, Ivanovo, Penza, Kursk, Pskov, Vladimir, Saratov, Smolensk, Yaroslavl Regions, Krasnodar Territory, Komi Republic, and the Republic of Karelia.
New Year celebrations in Vologda City were included into the Winter of the Russian North festival initiated by the Vologda Region Governor.
