The National Forest Planting Day was proclaimed eight years ago. The Day celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests.
On each Forest Planting Day, cities and towns are encouraged to undertake efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns.
The Vologda Oblast is a vast wooded area with some 72% of its total land covered with forests. Wood is the most precious treasure of the region. Tree planting remains one of the key programmes for the whole country to replenish its forest resources.
Forest is the most valuable strategic resource of Russia, an important component of ecological and economic safety of a country. Our first aim is to provide efficient use and restoration of forest potential of our country.
