In 2023 Vologda Region doubled the export of black caviar.

In the first 11 months of 2023, 171 kg of sturgeon caviar was exported from the Vologda Region to Vietnam, Indonesia, Qatar, Serbia, Korea and Turkey. Last year, 68.3 kg of caviar was exported to Vietnam, Korea, Serbia and Oman.
Black caviar is one of the most expensive food products in the world. The Vologda Region produces black caviar at the only enterprise, Diana, which is a part of the Russian Caviar House group of companies.
Russia's largest company for raising sturgeon in a hatchery and harvesting black caviar is located in Kadui, Vologda Region. The waterways' advantageous location next to the local hydroelectric station that provides hot water allows this thermophilic precious breed of fish to be raised all-year round.
Animal fat accounted for the bulk of exports from the Vologda Region. In comparison with 2022, the export of fat increased by 37%, amounting to 5,072 tons.
One more interesting figure. In 2023, 1,297.3 thousand cubic meters of timber products were exported from the Vologda Region. In 2023, exports to China increased by 1.5 times, to the Republic of Korea - 2 times, to Uzbekistan - 4 times, to Turkey - 2 times.
Acting Governor of the Vologda Region Georgy Filimonov noted that enterprises of the region have opportunities for export growth.
"This year, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia set a target for the Vologda Region for agricultural exports at the sum of USD 38.8 mln, and it was exceeded by 64.3%. And we will increase the pace," commented Mr. Filimonov.
