Export of chaga from the Vologda Region to Vietnam increased sixfold.

The Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor for the Vologda Region controlled the shipment of birch chaga to Vietnam (15,7 tons). All products passed quarantine phytosanitary control and comply with international quarantine phytosanitary requirements of the importing country.
Since the beginning of the year, 96 tons of chaga have been exported to Vietnam. During the same period last year, 15.3 tons of these mushrooms were exported from our region. Thus, the volume of exports increased by more than six times.
Birch chaga (Slanted tinder fungus (Inonotus obliquus) is a fungus that parasitizes on birch. Chaga is harvested for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes. People in Russia have used chaga mushrooms for hundreds of years, consuming them in herbal teas to boost their immunity. Birch chaga is also used in dietary supplements and cosmetic products.
