Exhibition of Vologda’s lace opened in Minsk on October 26.
27.10.2023 11:56

One of the most valuable crafts from Vologda Region - laces are on display for the first time in Minsk, the capital of Belarus.
The exhibition of Vologda lace in the Republic of Belarus shows amazing skills of our women in knitting. Vologda lace is a world famous brand, carefully keeping the ancient traditions of hand-made lace. Like a few centuries ago, it represents the glory of Russian lace, its impeccable quality and style.
Vologda has always been one of the main centres of Russian lace tatting, and in the 19th century it became the most famous one. It was that time when lace-makers began to tat lace patterns in the form of wonderful stars and snowflakes. Vologda lace reminds of hoarfrost on winter glass, which will disappear under the first rays of the March sun. It looks like a thin spider line, which will be torn by a waft of wind.
Elegant panels, clothes, scarves, gloves, handbags, collars and tablecloths made of lace are on display in Belarus.
Vologda's artisans also give master classes in the art of lace-making in Minsk.
