The 9th of May is a special day for all Russian people. It unites all Russians with a memory of heroic deed of our grandfathers.
At a ceremony in the Governor’s House, Oleg Kuvshinnikov presented passports to young citizens of the Vologda Region who have shown excellent results in studies and sports - winners and medalists of contests, academic, artistic and sporting competitions, top students.
The Governor presented orders, medals and honorary title certificates to outstanding Vologda's residents for their tangible contribution to socio-economic and cultural development of the region and to those people who showed heroism in emergency situations.
This summer the Vologda Region will host several inter-regional and international events - XV International drama festival "Voices of History", IV International Lace Festival VITA LACE, International Folk Crafts Festival “City of Crafts” and Village - the Soul of Russia, an All-Russian Folklore Festival.
This year sees the 77th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in 1945. A meeting of the local government officials devoted to celebration of the 77th anniversary since victory in the Great Patriotic War was held in Vologda on April 21.
St. George Ribbon campaign to distribute black-and-orange ribbons - a symbol of the victory in World War II – will start in Vologda on April 26th.

Sowing campaign has started in the Vologda Region.
According to head of the region Oleg Kuvshinnikov, all agricultural organizations and farms of the region are ready for sowing campaign. The Vologda Region is actively developing dairy farming, plant growing and horticulture. The seed stock of the Vologda Region is made up of potatoes, cereals, fiber flax and perennial grasses.
On April 18th, Mr. Kuvshinnikov held a meeting of the Emergency Headquarters for Infection Control in the region and briefed on the current situation at the health care facilities.
Oleg Kuvshinnikov and Anatoly Torkunov discussed partnership relations in the educational and scientific spheres.
Oleg Kuvshinnikov will hold a direct communication session during which he will respond to questions from citizens of the Vologda Region.
