My congratulations on National Unity Day!
01.11.2022
National Unity Day is marked in Russia on November 4. Russia has celebrated the National Unity Day as an official holiday since 2005. This day has gone down in history as a day of unity of the people. Its origins go very far back to important events in the Russian history.
This holiday implicates the idea of national consent, cohesion and unity. The date commemorates the events of 1612 when Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky formed volunteer army regiments that went on to liberate Moscow from the Polish-Lithuanian interventionist forces. Representatives of all classes and nationalities who lived on the territory of Russia at that time stood up for the defense of the homeland in the hour of need. Thanks to the unity of the Russian people, the Polish army began to retreat.
Today, when our country is facing challenges again, we need to unite. This is the only way we can defend our independence, cultural values, language and asmbitions.
Dear residents of Vologda Region, I wish you strength and firmness of spirit, faith in victory!
Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov
