Project in General
Since 2006 the Vologda Oblast has been financing into infrastructure development on territory of the Sheksna Industrial Park:
- geological engineering survey on the territory of the park has been completed;
- part of design and exploration work has been finished;
- construction-and-assembling operations of infrastructure are underway (high-power electric supplies, gas lines, large-volume water supplies, sewage facilities), construction of highways and a car park is in full swing;
- investment legislation concerning the Sheksna Industrial Park has been adopted;
- the Vologda Oblast Government has passed a resolution on setting up a board of directors of the Sheksna Industrial Park;
- arable land and land kept in reserve have been converted into land for industrial purposes;
- the park is accessible by roads, a highway has been laid throughout its territory;
- an administrative building has been constructed.
Objectives of the project:
- economic diversification based on establishment of high-tech industries that are high in added value, and budget receipts;
- increase in the output of building industry in order to boost house-building;
- increase in competitiveness of Russia's motor-car cluster owing to creating a number of motor companies on the territory of the Sheksna Industrial Park.
Leading industries
Within the framework of the Sheksna Industrial Park it is planned to develop the following types of activity:
- profound metal processing;
- construction industry;
- production of auto components;
- high-tech wood-processing;
- bio-technology.
In 2012 the Sheksna Industrial Park got a certificate of the Association of industrial parks in Russia, a non-governmental and non-profit organization uniting key industrial parks and investors of industrial projects targeting the facilitating of relationships between business and state within the whole industry of industrial parks development.
The total square of the industrial park is 2000 has. The park boasts an advantageous geographical location. It is situated in the south of the Vologda Oblast at the intersection of the main Russian transportation lines:
- Highways - road of federal importance Vologda - Novaya Ladoga (9,000 cars a day);
- Waterways (the Sheksna River) - Volga-Baltic Waterway (7,500 ships during navigation period);
- Railways - Northern railway (190 trains a day).
The waters of the Sheksna and Rybinsk reservoirs (Volga-Baltic Waterway) flow through its territory from north to south. The Industrial Park is in proximity to the airports of Vologda and Cherepovets. The Sheksna Industrial Park is situated in the vicinity of consumption markets of Moscow and St.Petersburg, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. Thus, highways, water carriage, aviation and railways enhance the SIP's advantage in logistics.
Residents of the Industrial Park
ZAO Severstal Pipe Works - Sheksna, the first enterprise on the territory of the Sheksna industrial park, was founded on June 8th, 2007. The enterprise is oriented towards production of round, square and rectangular pipes from 127 to 426 mm in diameter. The annual volume of production amounts to 250 tons. The production facilities were fully operational by the end of 2010.
ZAO Severstal Steel Solutions aiming to produce high quality steel structures was officially started in Sheksna on November 14, 2007.
On June 4, 2014 a cornerstone of a new biotechnological plant ZAO Abiogroup was laid on the territory of the Sheksna Industrial Park. The plant will produce outdoor gas thermal blocks. The blocks are suitable for private and apartment houses, offices and shopping centres.
