Vologda Region to cooperate with Belorussia.

Deputy Governor Nikolai Guslinsky took part via video linkup in the meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus and Bellesbumprom Concern that is engaged in forestry, paper-and-pulp production and wood processing.
The participants of the meeting discussed issues of trade and economic cooperation in agriculture, delivery of food products, flax fibre and agricultural machinery.
The Vologda Oblast has been sustaining partnership ties with the Republic of Belarus since 2006. The Republic of Belarus ranks among the most active CIS trade partners of the Vologda Oblast. In 2013 foreign trade turnover between the Vologda Oblast and Belarus amounted to US$511 mln. Ferrous and non-ferrous metals, machinery, wood and wood articles dominate the oblast's export to Belarus. The imports to the Vologda Oblast are made up, for the most part, of agricultural equipment, machines and agricultural raw material.
The main objective of this meeting was to define guidelines for future collaboration between the Vologda Oblast and Belarus, within the framework of the 9th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on cooperation between the Vologda Oblast and the Republic of Belarus.
Vologda’s experts suggested expanding cooperation in the sphere of innovative development of the ultrasonic equipment, products for the disinfection of waste water, as well as in the field of construction of prefabricated buildings made of metal structures and other facilities. Cooperation in the sphere of forestry and trade was also in the highlight of the discussion.
Partnership ties between the Vologda Oblast and the Republic of Belarus will continue. Next week a delegation from the Vologda Oblast led by the head of the Department of Agriculture and Food Stocks will go to Minsk to participate in an international exhibition “Belagro-2014” held from the 3rd till the 8th of June, 2014.
