Vologda Region started export supplies of sturgeon caviar to India.

In 2025, India became the third country after Thailand and Jordan that began to import black caviar from the Vologda Region.

Thirty-five glass jars of black caviar were sent to the airport of the Indian capital New Delhi. The product met all the veterinary requirements of the recipient country.

Black caviar is one of the most expensive food products in the world. The Vologda Region produces black caviar at the only enterprise, Diana, which is a part of the Russian Caviar House group of companies.

Russia's largest company for raising sturgeon in a hatchery and harvesting black caviar is located in Kadui District. The waterways' advantageous location next to the local hydroelectric station that provides hot water allows this thermophilic precious breed of fish to be raised all-year round.

All in all, 35 kg of sturgeon caviar have been exported from the Vologda Region since the beginning of the year. In 2024, 111 kg were exported from our region to four countries - Vietnam, Indonesia, Jordan and Serbia.
