Vologda Region and Kazakhstan to deepen economic and cultural ties.

First Deputy Governor of the Vologda Oblast Alexei Sherlygin met with Consul General of Kazakhstan Ermek Primbetov. The meeting took place at the Vologda Oblast Government.

The parties defined guidelines for future partnership ties between the Vologda Region and the Republic of Kazakhstan. The visiting Consul General emphasized that the Republic of Kazakhstan is interested in deliveries of wood and wood-working products from the Vologda Region, as well as in cooperation in the field of timbered house-building. Kazakhstan’s timber industry enterprises were invited to participate in the Russian Wood, an international exhibition for innovation technologies to be applied in the timber industry, in production of technological equipment for forestry and manufacture of wood and wood-working articles that is held in Vologda every year.

The parties agreed to organize a business mission of Vologda’s entrepreneurs to Astana, Kazakhstan and then a visit of representatives of Kazakh business circles to the Vologda Region.

It is worth noting that the parties have been cooperating for more than five years, and in 2014 the commodity turnover amounted to USD 121 mln, which is a 75% increase compared to the last year figure.

The Vologda Region already supplies timber, pulp and paper products, food products and raw materials for their production to Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan delivers machine-building production, ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

“We are interested in collaboration between our Chambers of Commerce and Industry, in the creation of business missions, - said Alexei Shelygin. - I believe that our relationship with you will continue, and I am sure that it will deepen thanks to the Eurasian Economic Union.
