Vologda Oblast Government to develop partnership ties with Republic of Slovenia.

Recently the Russian Federation has developed a close relationship with the Republic of Slovenia. They are based on historical ties of our Slavic peoples. Our countries exchange delegations and hold various joint events.
Significant visits by high ranking political figures are also carried out. RF President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev paid working visits to the Republic of Slovenia.
Not long ago a delegation from the Vologda Oblast visited Slovenia. A number of events were organized within the framework of the visit; of particular interest was a chess tournament that involved over three hundred athletes.
On a visit to Slovenia, the members of Vologda’s delegation attended a church of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Ljubljana. During the negotiations the Slovenian party proposed to arrange an exchange of Slovenian and Vologda’s clergy and pilgrims.
In 2014 – 2015 it is planned to arrange one more visit to Slovenia. This time a delegation will include representatives of the regional authorities, business community and public organizations. The main objective is to conclude an agreement on friendship and cooperation with the Republic of Slovenia. Mr Doku G. Zavgaev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Slovenia will negotiate for the treaty.
