Vologda Region to expand cooperation with Belarus.

Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation Dmitry Krutoy. They discussed prospects of cooperation between the Vologda Region and Belarus. The visit was organized on the eve of the official visit of a delegation from the Vologda Region to Belarus.
"In 2023, we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of partnership ties between the Vologda Region and Belarus. The first agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic of Belarus and the Vologda Region administration was signed in 1998. And, of course, this is a good milestone to sum up the results of our collaboration and continue it," the head of the region said, opening the meeting.
The Republic of Belarus is one of the main partners of the Vologda Region. Cooperation has been established in the field of economy, road, housing and communal services, agro-industrial complex, ecology, culture, education, youth policy, sports and social sphere. The Republic of Belarus ranks first among the counterparty countries of the region.
The Vologda Region supplies ferrous metallurgy, timber industry products and fertilizers to Belarus. Cooperation in mechanical engineering and agriculture is also developing.
“Our trade turnover has grown by 37% during two years. Import substitution strategy in the conditions of sanctions is working. We are talking about such items as petroleum products, computers and consumer electronics that are bought by the Vologda Region retail chains. Our agricultural machinery is also in demand,” stressed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation Dmitry Krutoy.
Ded Moroz, the winter wizard from Veliky Ustyug will visit the Republic of Belarus this year as part his New Year's Journey. The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
As Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov noted at the meeting, partnership between the Vologda Region and Belarus has no limits.
A delegation of the Vologda Region is to visit the Republic of Belarus at the end of October.
