A special economic zone will be created in Vologda Region.

Governor of the Vologda Region Georgy Filimonov stated that the status of a special economic zone was documented by the decision of the working group headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak.

The creation of a special economic zone is aimed at developing a favourable economic climate in the Vologda Region and attracting financial investments to the region.

The Vologda special economic zone will attract private investment, especially in the priority manufacturing industries - metalworking and woodworking. At the same time, it will be possible to increase the production of import-substituting products and export potential. In addition to it, 788 new working places will be created. This will be an area of 76 hectares.

The purpose of the Vologda special economic zone project is to create an investment platform with the entire necessary infrastructure, and to create favorable conditions for the implementation of private investment projects by opening modern production facilities in already developing sectors of the economy and new ones.
