The Russian Wood, exhibition for innovation technologies to be applied in the timber industry, in production of technological equipment for forestry and manufacture of wood and wood-working articles, will start its work in Vologda on December 3, 2014.

The members of the delegation from Jilin, a province of the People’s Republic of China situated in the central section of China's northeast region are representatives of business circles and top leadership of the province. Its objective is to get acquainted with the socio-economic potential of the region and hold negotiations concerning investment cooperation between China and the Vologda Oblast.

From now on Strasbourg, the parliamentary capital of Europe, will boast a square named after the Russian city of Vologda. The opening ceremony was held on November 3rd on the banks of the Canal du Rhône au Rhin with the participation of Mr. Roland Ries, Mayor of Strasbourg and Mayor of Vologda City Eugeny Shulepov, as well as Consul General of Russia in Strasbourg Alexander Burdin.

Top leadership of Vologda Oblast Government, City Hall of Cherepovets City and Severstal, one of the world's leading vertically integrated steel and steel related mining companies signed an agreement on cooperation in tourism and opening the first Russian museum of metallurgical production.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev conducted an expanded meeting in the Ivanovo Region concerning the development of the textile industry in Russia. The location of the meeting is not incidental as the economic potential of the region is based on light industry.
