March 25, Russia celebrates the Day of workers of culture. The corresponding decree was signed in 2007 by President Vladimir Putin.

Gates to the North is an inter-regional event, show and exhibition for the tourism industry. It is held annually with an active backing of the RF Ministry of Culture, RF Tourism Agency, Association of Russian tour operators and Vologda Oblast Government.

In March Vologda Oblast Government and the Vologda branch of the all-Russian public organization "Russian Geographical Society” will launch a new competition aiming to select treasures of Russian North.

This decision was taken at the XXXIVth International Ex-libris Congress in La Pineda, a holiday resort on the Costa Dorada, Spain's “Golden Coast”.
