On a visit to Vologda, Public Affairs Officer of US Consulate General in St. Petersburg Suzanne Bodoin attended the Vologda State Museum-Preserve, the Vologda Lace Museum and the Museum of Architecture and Ethnography in Semenkovo.

Martin Fourcade of France won biathlon World Cup 20K event. Simon Eder from Austria was second and Anton Shipulin from Russia took the third place.

The meeting was held as part of a series of meetings of top leadership of the Vologda Oblast Government with heads of municipalities.

Vologda took the 19th place in the voting phase of the project “City of Russia. National Choice” that concluded on December 30.

In 2016 the honour to become New Year’s Capital of Russia’s North fell upon Vologda again. The New Year was celebrated in a special way, because every Russian city has its own traditions of celebrating. Vologda’s authorities planned a number of major festive actions and events not only in Vologda, but also in Veliky Ustyug, the hometown of Ded Moroz, Russia’s equivalent of Santa Claus.
