The Blacksmith Festival takes place annually in August. This year it will be held on August 9-10. It will be held as part of the Summer of Russian North project initiated by Acting Governor Georgy Filimonov.

The city of Ustyuzhna and Kannus, a town located in the province of Western Finland have been official twin cities for many years. The Letters of Intent on establishing partnership ties between the towns were signed in 1995 and 2003.
