Children's museum

The Children's museum, another part of the Cherepovets museum association, was founded in 1988. Its collections are devoted to ethnography, natural history and applied art. The museum's young visitors acquire new knowledge and develop artistic skills.

The museum offers educational programs for children, teenagers and their parents. The children's centre proves to its visitors that a museum is a place where one can learn, experiment and create.

The ethnographic exposition of the museum provides role-playing. Children are engaged in modeling in clay and salty dough, and making amulet dolls.

The exposition unfolds chronologically and fills the earliest museum building erected in 1898.

Its sections are:

  • Peasants' childhood (it is devoted to the childhood of our great-grandmothers and great-grandfathers in late 19th century-early 20th century);
  • Childhood of town-dwellers (early 20th century);
  • Life of children in the 1930s-1940s (wartime);
  • Childhood in the 1960s;
  • Childhood of pioneers and members of the Komsomol.
