On February 8th the Day of Russian Science is celebrated in the Russian Federation. It was established in 1999 by a presidential decree in honour of the 275th anniversary of the establishment of the Academy of Sciences in Russia. On this day in 1724, Emperor Peter I signed a decree on the formation of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which was initially called the Academy of Sciences and Arts.
"The Vologda Region supplies most black caviar to Russian legal market. Last year Russia’s northern Vologda Region produced 19.2 tonnes of black caviar, which is 2.5 tons more than in 2024. The enterprise in the Vologda Region increases caviar production with every year. Such significant results allow the Vologda Region to occupy a leading position in Russia in caviar production," said Georgy Filimonov, Governor of the Vologda Region.
A working meeting between the Vologda Region Governor and the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation took place in Moscow.
"During the New Year holidays, more than 42,000 tourists visited the region. 270,000 people attended our major cities and sights in one day. Residents of Yaroslavl, Kirov, Kostroma, Arkhangelsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Leningrad regions, St. Petersburg, Moscow, and the Komi Republic plunged into the winter fairy tale in the Vologda Region," said Georgy Filimonov, Governor of the Vologda Region.
